Terms of service

The deal, in plain English.

Last updated: May 18, 2026

1. Definitions

"Audris," "we," and "our" refer to the Audris app and the solo developer who builds and operates it. "You" means the person using Audris. "The app" means the Audris mobile application for Android and iOS, including any voice model bundles, updates, and add-on features.

2. License to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to install and use Audris on any number of mobile devices you personally own or control, subject to your platform's app store terms (Apple Media Services Terms or Google Play Terms of Service).

You may not reverse-engineer the app to extract bundled voice model weights for redistribution. Voice models are licensed to Audris under OpenRAIL-M for use inside the app — that license does not transfer to you. Everything else in the app (Audris's own code, design, and the structure-aware reading pipeline) is our intellectual property and is licensed, not sold.

3. Free tier

Audris's free tier is free, forever, within published caps: three pages of listening per week, where a page means 300 words. It does not expire, it does not require a card, and it does not auto-upgrade to a paid plan. The on-device HD voices are included in it. We will tell you 60 days in advance if we ever change the free-tier caps.

4. Paid tier and renewals

Audris Premium is offered as a monthly ($6.99) or annual ($39.99) subscription, and audio exports beyond the included three per month are a $0.99 one-time purchase. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not directly by us. Renewal terms, taxes, and refunds are governed by your platform's standard subscription rules:

  • Apple: manage subscriptions in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
  • Google: manage subscriptions in Play Store → menu → Payments & subscriptions.

We will surface an in-app notice seven days before each renewal so you have a chance to cancel if you no longer want it. We do not bury cancellation. We do not run "are you sure?" guilt screens. Cancellation is one tap, plus the platform's standard confirmation.

5. The trial — what we commit to

Premium is offered with a 3-day free trial. Because the trial converts into a paid subscription unless you cancel, we commit to the following, and you can hold us to it:

  • The amount you will be charged, and the date, are shown before the trial starts — not in a footnote.
  • Audris notifies you inside the app before the trial converts, while there is still time to cancel.
  • Cancelling during the trial costs nothing and is one tap plus your platform's confirmation.
  • You never need the trial to evaluate Audris. The free tier does not expire and never asks for a card.

We do not offer a lifetime plan. We would rather not sell one than sell one and quietly retire it later.

6. Refunds and cancellation

Refunds for subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled by Apple and Google according to their published policies. If you bought through Apple, request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you bought through Google, request one in the Play Store. We honor any refund the stores approve.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Your library, bookmarks, and resume positions remain on your device after cancellation. You can keep using the free tier indefinitely.

7. Your content

You retain full ownership of the documents you import. Audris processes them entirely on your device (see the privacy policy). We claim no license to your documents and we never transmit them off your device.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use Audris to violate someone else's copyright, accessibility law, or local law. Do not use Audris to convert documents you are not entitled to read. If you use Audris in an accessibility context (school, workplace, healthcare), please be aware that some jurisdictions require a separate accessibility audit — Audris is not certified by us as a compliance tool.

9. No warranties

Audris is provided "as is." We aim for high quality and ship updates regularly, but the app is offered without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The structure-aware reading pipeline is heuristic — it works very well on most documents and occasionally makes mistakes. Always verify critical text by reading it yourself; do not rely solely on Audris for legal, medical, or financial documents.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to Audris is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

11. Changes to these terms

If we materially change these terms, we will update the "Last updated" date and surface a notice in the app the next time you open it. Your continued use after the change constitutes acceptance of the new terms. If you do not accept them, you can stop using the app and (where applicable) request a pro-rated refund from your platform.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the Audris developer resides, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by good-faith conversation will be brought in the appropriate state or federal court in that state.
