Your documents never leave your phone.

The short version

Audris processes your documents entirely on your device. We do not upload, store, or transmit your document content to any server. Audris does not require an account. There is no analytics on what you read. When you uninstall the app, all of your data goes with it.

That is the whole policy. The rest of this page exists because privacy law and app-store reviewers expect a longer document, and because we want to be precise.

What Audris does on your device

Audris reads documents you import — PDFs, EPUBs, DOCX files, plain text, and HTML articles — and turns them into speech. Every step of that pipeline happens locally on your phone:

• Document parsing (PdfBox-Android on Android, PDFKit on iOS) — local.
• Structure analysis (font, size, color, spacing heuristics) — local.
• Optional OCR for scanned PDFs (ML Kit on Android, Vision framework on iOS) — local.
• Text-to-speech (Supertonic 3, an ONNX model that ships with the app) — local.
• Playback, library management, bookmarks, resume position — local.

Audris ships with roughly 404 MB of voice model assets on disk. They are the reason Audris can speak in 31 languages and produce natural cadence without contacting a cloud TTS service. We state the install size honestly on the App Store and Play Store listings rather than burying it.

What we do not collect

• Your document content. The text, structure, and metadata of every document you import stay on your device.
• Your reading history. What you listened to, when, for how long — none of that leaves the device.
• Personally identifying information. Audris has no account system in version 1. We do not ask for your email, your name, or any identifier.
• Behavioral analytics. No Mixpanel, no Segment, no Amplitude, no Firebase Analytics. No third-party tracking SDKs of any kind.
• Advertising identifiers. Audris does not request your IDFA or Android Advertising ID.

What we do collect (and only with your permission)

Crash reports — opt-in only. If a future version of Audris adds crash reporting, it will be disabled by default. You will be asked explicitly the first time you launch the app after the feature is introduced. Crash reports, when enabled, contain anonymized device model and OS version, a stack trace, and the recent app log — never your document content. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy. If and when we add this, this page will be updated with the exact data collected and a link to the upstream provider.

App Store and Play Store analytics. Apple and Google provide aggregated install and uninstall counts to every developer by default. We see totals; we do not see who you are or what you read. We cannot turn this off — it is built into the stores themselves.

Payment information. If you subscribe to Audris Premium or buy an extra audio export, the payment is handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your card number, billing address, or full name. We see only an anonymized subscription receipt that tells us which tier you are entitled to.

Storage and deletion

Documents you import are stored in Audris's app-internal storage, which is sandboxed by the operating system. Other apps cannot read your Audris library. When you uninstall Audris, the operating system deletes that sandbox — every document, bookmark, and setting goes with it.

You can also clear individual documents from inside the app at any time. There is no soft-delete and no recovery — once cleared, the bytes are gone from the device.

Network usage

Audris contacts the network for exactly these reasons, and no others:

• Downloading the voice model bundle on first launch (or when you tap "Download voices" in Settings).
• Validating your subscription receipt with Apple or Google.
• (Optional, opt-in only) Sending an anonymized crash report if a future version adds that feature.
• (Optional, Premium+ AI tier only) Sending text you explicitly choose to summarize or convert to a podcast to our AI provider. This is gated behind an explicit "Generate" action and is never automatic.

Audris does not phone home in the background. There is no telemetry beacon, no heartbeat, no "active install" ping. You can verify this with a network sniffer.

GDPR & CCPA

Audris does not collect personal data. Because there is no personal data to subject to a request, GDPR and CCPA rights to access, rectify, or delete are satisfied automatically: the only data Audris holds about you is the data on your own device, which you already control. You can revoke consent for any opt-in feature (such as crash reports) at any time in Settings.

If you bought a subscription through Apple or Google, those companies are the data controllers for your billing relationship. Their respective privacy policies apply to that data, not ours.

Children

Audris is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through any future Audris feature, contact us at [email protected] and we will investigate.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy — for example, adding a new opt-in feature that touches the network — we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and surface a notice inside the app the next time you open it. We will never silently widen the data we collect.
