Short description (50 words)

Audris is a structure-aware PDF-to-speech app for Android and iOS. Unlike Speechify and other cloud TTS apps, Audris runs entirely on-device, requires no account, and reads documents with natural pauses by analyzing font weight, size, color, and spacing. A free tier that never expires — with the HD voices included, because they run on the phone.

Long description (250 words)

Audris is a structure-aware PDF-to-speech app for Android and iOS, built as a deliberate counter-positioning to Speechify and similar subscription-funnel TTS apps. Where competitors treat a document as a flat stream of characters — reading titles, subtitles, bullet labels, and body text with the same cadence — Audris extracts the visual structure of the document (font weight, size, color, spacing, position) and uses it to inject natural pauses, tone shifts, and section breaks into the audio. Listening feels like a friend reading to you, not a monotone stream.

Audris runs entirely on-device using Supertonic 3, a 99M-parameter neural TTS model (OpenRAIL-M) running in ONNX Runtime. No documents are uploaded. No account is required. The free tier has a cap — three pages a week — but no expiration, no card, and no auto-upgrade, and it includes the same HD voices the paid tier uses. That is a structural consequence of running the model locally: a minute of listening costs Audris nothing, so there is no reason to ration voice quality the way cloud competitors must. Premium ($6.99/month or $39.99/year) removes the meter and adds OCR and custom pronunciations. There is no lifetime tier — the company would rather not sell one than sell one and retire it later.

Audris is built by a solo developer. The marketing channel is honesty, not paid ads. The target audience is the privacy-conscious power user who is actively searching for a Speechify alternative that does not trick them.

Founder bio (100 words)

Charles Magno is a solo software developer based in the United States, building the VibeWorld portfolio of indie tools. Audris is his entry into the assistive-tech and productivity space. The idea came from a frustration with existing PDF-to-speech apps that read bold section headers and bullet labels with the same monotone cadence as body text, making long documents unlistenable. Charles built Audris to be the opposite of a subscription-trap app: on-device, no account, honest pricing, and a public commitment to never bait-and-switch the deal.
